A birthday letter to a daughter. Remember who you are, and whose you are.
You turned two years old today, our precious Ava Hope. I wanted a picture of you that was Pinterest worthy. Yes, of course, I have to admit that to you. But the words on the board are what I really want you to remember. Although you were most interested in that delicious sweet treat you hold in your hand, rather than holding the little chalkboard, I was dwelling on this truth down deep inside — believing it for you.
Even before you were born, I was thinking of the great BIG BEAUTIFUL plans God has for you. I have had a bit more time to get to know your brother and your sisters. Each of you have such special gifts and talents, given by God to bring Him glory. I pray that I will walk in a manner worthy of my call, in helping raise you up in those gifts to walk in a manner worthy of your call. Colossians 1:10
I pray that you will be confident in those gifts. It has taken me too long to be confident in mine. It has taken me too long to celebrate who God created me to be. I want you to know, today, who you are in Him.
There is an enemy of our souls, and he is the devil. The enemy does not want to see us rise in our calling. The enemy wants you and the whole world to remain in darkness. But Jesus is the Light of the world. In Him there is no darkness at all. Jesus overcame the world, and He make us over-comers.
Jesus desires to be our friend so earnestly, He paid a high price for us –He paid it with His own life. There is no greater love than one that lays down his own life for his friend. John 15:13
He laid it down His life for you, and He raised it back up again. When He did, He conquered — He conquered death. We do not have to fear the devil. We resist the devil, and he must flee as we surrender our hearts to God. The devil does not want you to know your value and worth.
