Connect {Five Minute Friday}

I am very glad to be joining Lisa Jo for Five Minute Friday, and this gracious, precious community of bloggers who bare open their souls to share raw and true what pours from their hearts through their fingers, writing for just 5 minutes, after reading the word prompt. Today the word is CONNECT.

I’ve sat long on hard wood seats, and stood long on hard wood floors.

Fingers tapping and eyes staring

at the backlit screen —

It’s beautiful.

But lately, as I’ve found bits of quiet throughout my day — God’s whisper has been heard.

He’s drawing me close again — closer.

He reminds me what’s most important.

Be true. Be real. Be careful.

Guard your heart with all diligence.

The depth of your connecting online, is only as deep as your connection offline.

Connect with those here that follow you with clanking princess shoes, asking for one more hug.

Connect with those here that like when you make them pancakes, help with horses and linger long at bedtime.

And, it’s about that time to disconnect online, so you can truly reconnect to Me, the Vine.

I’ve got some things to share.

  • Holly

So beautiful…focusing on our TRUE followers, the only ones that really matter..YES! those that desire for us to “linger long at bedtime”..just beautiful and the true definition of CONNECT

Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. God is getting the message to my heart, loud and clear and He knows what’s best :)

      Blessing to you,

  • Tammy Perlmutter

Great post!! I love hoe you connected the following and the liking with our offline and online lives! I took a Sunday Sabbath from media last Sunday and I’m thinking about making it a regular thing. If I have the self-control!! It’s so important and I hope you return refreshed and restored!!!

    • Michele-Lyn

Oh, thank you for the encouragement! I am also making resting from the social networking on Sunday a priority :)

  • charis

enjoy your connection time with your family and with the Lord! i always find that stepping away to seek the Lord renews every area of life and those that aren’t renewed are easier to leave behind. blessings!

    • Michele-Lyn

Thank you and Amen! Yes, God renews every part of us :)

my recent post: did you look into their eyes today?

  • Craig

Michelle, really wise decision to disconnect and reconnect, With me it’s a little bit the opposite, for the last few months I’ve had to disconnect for major and minor catastrophes – and now I’m reconnecting slowly. Just want you to know that I just finished a prayer for your time of reconnection. God bless and keep you and each and every one of yours.

    • Michele-Lyn

I know you have been going through something heavy. I pray that God will make your body whole, as He is making whole your soul. You are a light in a dark world, and a blessing to the body of Christ. I appreciate your prayers.

      Blessings to you,

  • Nancy

Thank you for the sweet visit :)

  • Shelly Miller

Enjoy the time to sit in His presence and look in their eyes and listen intently. I know I enjoyed my two weeks of unplugged bliss. We’ll be here when you get back. Thanks for all your kind words and tweets today. Your generosity is humbling.

    • Michele-Lyn

You are so very welcome for the shares. Your post was something beautiful. I loved it! Thank you for blessing me here, too. I am looking forward to hearing what God would speak. He wants me all to Himself… :)

  • Diana Denis

Hi Michelle, you will be missed! But what better reason to disconnect than to connect with Him! Praying for a time of refreshing. I love this line: “And, it’s about that time to disconnect online, so you can truly reconnect to Me, the Vine.”
    Be blessed!

    • Michele-Lyn

Thank you for your sweet and kind words here :) What a blessing! Thank you for your prayers too…

  • Melanie

I’ve been reading your blog just the last couple of weeks through Five Minute Friday- and love your words and transparency.
“The depth of your connecting online is only as deep as your connection offline.” I keep reading those over and over. How true.
Praying that your break is refreshing and deeply connects your soul to God and those around you in clanking princess shoes and asking for hugs!

    • Michele-Lyn

Oh, I am humbled by your visits. Thank you for your encouragement and prayers :)

  • Audra Silva

“The depth of your connecting online, is only as deep as your connection offline.” Yes! So true. I’m feeling the same draw to connect with those here in my home, and with the One who gave me such a precious family.

    • Michele-Lyn

It’s so very important, isn’t it? We journey together, and I pray that neither of us ever lose our footing.

      Blessings friend,

  • Jessica

Amazing how He speaks so softly that we have to be silent just to hear His whispers sometimes. Hope that your time away renews your spirit! I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

    • Michele-Lyn

Thank you for your blessing and your prayers. I hope to hear quiet so I can hear Him…

You bless me by your visit here :)

  • Denise

    Such a lovely post.

    • Michele-Lyn

      Thank you :)

  • Leigh

Hello again. :) Lovely, as usual.
Enjoy your time away – settle deeply into His Spirit and listen, listen, be free.

We will welcome you back upon your return. Upon His timing.

Take care sister. :) This was a treat.

    • Michele-Lyn

I love your words here… “Enjoy your time away – settle deeply into His Spirit and listen, listen, be free.” Yes, I will take these words with me :)

  • Mary Beth

“Be true. Be real. Be careful.” Love that. May be my new motto.

    • Michele-Lyn

      Mary Beth,

These words sort of spilled out. I wasn’t sure anyone would get them :) Thanks for your encouragement.

  • ro elliott

just wonderful…blessings as you abide to the vine…letting Him nourish your soul.

    • Michele-Lyn

You know it’s your words that help keep me on track. What good am I if I wander away from God’s will? Thank you for your leadership in my life!

  • Laura @ Pruning Princesses

Online communities are blessings and distractions. Yet another balancing act we must learn to handle. Praying you have a week full of sweet real life connections.

    • Michele-Lyn

I agree with you about it being a balancing act — in some ways though, it has helped me live more too. Perhaps it’s caused me to be more intentional and authentic at home… anyway :)

YOU are a blessing to me :)

  • Crystal

Praying for your week away from social media, that you would feel refreshed and reconnected with the important things in life :)

    • Michele-Lyn

Thank you so very much! Your prayers are so very appreciated :)

  • Stefanie Brown (@stefanieybrown)

    I’m thankful He connected us.
I’m thankful He led me to receive comments again so our connection could deepen, growing in His grace and goodness.
I’m thankful you’re taking time to connect more to Him. We all need that time!
    Enjoy, sweet friend!

  • Barbie

I enjoy connecting with other writers, sharing what’s on our hearts. But you are right in that nothing compares to those “IRL” connections. Be blessed my friend!

    • Michele-Lyn

Connecting online still seams knew to me. I stand in awe of God’s goodness here. But before there was all this, there was Him, and there was my family. I want to anchor my soul, and make sure I don’t lose perspective. :)

I am getting that bio to you today. I am sorry for the delay, my friend. Thank you so much for grace.

  • path of treasure

Oops — I meant to write .. “and TO those little feet that follow you”– sorry for the typo!

  • path of treasure

I felt such peace when reading this. How important and wise to know when to disconnect online and connect to Who really matters (and yo those little feet that follow you). Blessings on your week ahead. (Visiting from Five Minute Friday today… but enjoyed tweeting with you too this past week! :)

I love those clanking princess shoes.

This is a nice connection, web connection. But there is no other connection better than the Jer. 33:3 connection to Lord of Divine teachings. When we call upon Him, our knowledge will increase and their is always hope that He will show us things that were left unspoken.

I will be here waiting for the renewed thoughts and body and what you will share to us. And I will come for your friend’s posts too.

Thank you. God bless you as you go off-line from the net to go higher to connect to heaven.

    • Michele-Lyn

Wow. I will take these words with me. They are like honey to my soul tonight. What a blessing you are. I just finished reading and replying to another comment of yours, maybe a few over the last couple of days. You always have such encouragement to share.

      Thank you :)
