And we cry out to God, “Calm the storm. Bring order out of this chaos.” And He doesn’t. Instead, He wants to calm the storm in us.
Sometimes, we ask God to calm the storm and chaos all around. Sometimes, the storm has come and it’s beyond our control. Sometimes, the chaos has been of our doing. Decisions we have made. Disciplines we have lacked. And we have lost control.
He wants to be our calm, to find Him in the midst of it all. He’s there, even the messes of our own doing. He wants us to know, He’s not waiting on the outside of our storm, He’s in it with us, wanting to be the eye of it, the calm of it. He’s a God who is attracted to messes.
