“I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
Now choose life, so that you and your children may live…”

Deuteronomy 30:19

We celebrated our eldest daughter turning twenty. When her birthday comes, when she comes to a life milestone, or when she turns her head at just the right moment, gratitude takes my breath away, because she has breath.

More than twenty years ago, as a scared 15 year old not ready to be a child-mother, the most obvious answer was to terminate the baby growing inside my belly. I really believed it was what I had to do. I could not see any way I could raise a child. I was afraid of what having her would mean for us both.

How could I possibly predict her future and mine?
How could I know what would become of her and I?

Fear would have me murder, because Fear fears every being who bears the image of God — fears they may bare the image of God. To kill, steal, and destroy is the assignment against us all.

But God saves.

God saved my mama first. She told me about how Jesus saves, and I believed. Jesus saved me and when He did, He saved my baby girl, too.

Today she’s a twenty-year-old gorgeous, beautiful-inside-and-out, talented, intelligent, witty, responsible, kind-hearted, strong, happy, joyful, gifted artist and lover of God who wants to bring Him glory with her life.

And she’s taught me, rather showed me, that people are more important and of more value than any treasure on this earth. She is my story.

In case you are new around here, or never ventured over to the places where I’ve tapped out my story, I’d like to invite you there now.
