One particular day that I was painfully struggling many years ago, I asked God, “Why do I feel so alone in this journey, I just need leadership, and encouragement, and I know, with it, I would be so much further than I am now?” I remember God speaking to my heart so clearly.
His response, “You be the mentor you desire.”
As only God is able, He takes the pain and difficulty I experienced over the years and turns it for good. Through it, the heart of mentor was conceived. I do not want my children to ever feel they are not believed in. It is an unnecessary, debilitating ungodly belief.
I believed a lie for so long that the work I was doing as wife and mama was not fit for the Kingdom of God. I now know, the devil was behind those lies, in keeping me from fulfilling this sacred calling, with joy and love and strength. Now my passion is fueled, as I know I am raising godly seed, followers of Christ, leaders for their generation and generations to come, imparting what God has given me into them so they will live out their God given purpose established in their identity in Christ.
Fully invested as a mama, I can live out my mission first at home. In my current season of my life I am not too far from remembering what it is like to have an infant, our Ava, who is now 2 years old has us completely immersed in toddler days. We also will be graduating a homeschooled high school senior next year, spring of 2013. In between them, our preteen daughter and only son, keep us fully engaged in purposeful parenting, life-coaching and mentoring.

I believe mentoring is:
1. Helping my children become all that they were created to be, by encouraging and believing in them.
2. Investing my time and energy into my children, to train and disciple them in their giftings, strengths and talents, help anchor them to their character and purpose, and inspire them to put the gifts to work.
3. Helping them find their passion, their creativity, their sense of destiny and purpose that God gave them, to learn and grow into their respective roles together for the sake of future generations.
4. Possessing the characteristics of a natural and spiritual mother, by providing protection, guidance, instruction, correction, exhortation, encouragement and inspiration.
I live my mission to draw out potential, ignite passion and foster growth in myself and others for the glory of God, and it begins at home.
