It’s that time again…

Most of you know, and maybe some of you are new around here, but I take a blogging and social media break “about” every seventh week. Which means for six weeks I’m on, and for the seventh week I go quiet, I’m not posting on the blog, Facebook, or Instagram, or tweeting on Twitter. I may pin a few images on Pinterest if it’s for dinner, homeschool, or something for my home. I don’t get every seventh week off of being a mama, and that’s perfectly fine.

I’ve shared several reasons why I do this, here, and why it is important for all of us to leave space in our life for quiet and to breathe. One of my favorite quotes that affirms this is from the book “Margin” written by Richard A. Swenson MD.

“Margin is the gap between rest and exhaustion, the space between breathing freely and suffocating… Margin grants freedom and permits rest. It nourishes both relationship and service. Spiritually, it allows availability for the purpose of God.”

And I wrote more about that here.

I began last summer taking time off, friends, and God has confirmed the necessity of it more and more. Each time it comes around again I know it’s near for two reasons. One, I begin to struggle a little and a lot. And two, something much more valuable than my struggle, is I feel God tugging, I hear Him calling and drawing me away from all the noise and from my own pursuits. And what He has for me will be found in going.

Each time is different and this time I know that God’s focus will be on purifying the motives of my heart. I’ve been missing the mark and I will want Him to realign my desires with His. I’ve just not been hearing clearly.

“Though surrounded by possibly twenty thousands fans, He turned away from them. Christ repeatedly escaped the noise of the crowd in order to hear the Voice of God.” — Max Lucado

If Jesus had to, how much more do I, do we?

I’ll be back soon, but hopefully, not so much the same.
