How do you create the life you want? I don’t know exactly, but I’m seeking the answer. I’m in the process, learning, just like you, and I’ll share what I’m learning.

In many ways this could be a self-centered question. However, if the life you want is to live in obedience to God — being faithful with what you’ve been given — then it’s definitely a question that you should find an answer to.
Identify Core Values
The answer to the question, “What are my core values?” is often is connected to the answer of the question, “What is it that I really want?”
Defining our core values, what is most important to us, non-negotiables in our life, is a requisite to truly defining what it is we really want. It can help us hit delete on many of the time-consuming, energy-draining activities in our life.
Set Priorities Straight
Life is filled with many parts, and all its different parts should line up in the direction that you want your life to go. How your spend your minutes and hours that turn into the days of your life should reflect your priorities.
It would be easier if I woke up everyday knowing what I should say yes and no to, possessing the discipline and will power to do so. But God makes lets us choose. It can be daunting. If we aren’t living intentionally, we often leave regret in our wake.
The reality is, God give us freedom to make our own decisions. It’s called a free will. It’s a powerful privilege to choose where and how we will manage our resources. The most precious being; time and energy and talents. We decide how to manage it all. We decide how to steward it all.
Discover Purpose
The journey to discover our design, our strengths, our gifts, our passion, our desires, isn’t selfish if our motivation is to answer God’s call, and fulfill His purpose for us in this earth.
How do you discover your purpose? It can be layered and complex, and impossible without God, our Master Designer. All of the seeking and searching must be pointed toward our Purpose-Maker. Let Paul’s prayer in Col 1:9-10 become your own.
Pray, that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
And how do you increase in the knowledge of God? Seek wisdom.
“…if you seek it like silver, and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding…” Prov 2:4-6
Take Action
There comes a time when in all our seeking — we find. In all our knocking — it’s opened. Our waiting on God ends, and God waiting on us begins. He’s given us all that we need to take forward steps, and He’s just waiting to see what we will do with what we have, before He gives us any more.
Lately I’ve been taking inventory, and realizing, while I ask, “What do you want me to do?” God is asking me, “What are you going to do?”
That’s where I am. There are more questions I’m asking myself, or perhaps God’s been asking me. The answers are helping me to decide what I am going to do. He walks with me, and I don’t have to answer them on my own. And neither do you.
God is faithful to give us wisdom, from His Word, by His Spirit, from books we read, through people meet, and messages we hear. If we seek, we will find.
What have you been given?
How will you spend what you have?
How will you invest what you have?
What kind of end do you want?
What kind of end don’t you want?
What don’t you want to regret from yesterday?
What is most important to you?
