What we are not & need to be, He is…

“I am not sure if we really are willing, when push comes to shove to do what is needed to change the world…for someone’s life to truly change, someone has to step behond a comfort zone and into another world. Someone has to take a risk. And someone has to have compassion. To change a life, paths must cross and worlds must collide.” –Noel Brewer Yeatts, Awake

I am not sure I am ready for my world to collide with theirs.

I do not know how my heart will handle it, when I see poverty that is so foreign to me.

I am not sure how to reconcile the reality of not being able to meet their needs.

I have to believe,

“You are a defense for the helpless,
A defense for the needy in his distress…”

(Isaiah 25:4 NASB)

And You are still the answer to every need, for You declare,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed…”
(Luke 4:18 NASB)

Whatever I am not, and need to be, You are.

I pray that I always feel the burden of Your heart, Lord

and what You carry in it for this world.

Enlarge the capacity of this heart to carry more of Your love.

And as I am given freely, help me pour out freely,

While I am in Guatemala, may I be

a conduit of Your blessing and Your grace.

We are blogging from Guatemala,

and we would love for you to join the rescue here.
