UPDATE: Giveaway has ended.

Have you ever been acquainted with amazing people in your life that had no idea how amazing they really were? And it’s not that they are perfect. It’s that they do not ever act like they are. They are faulted, as we all are, and not afraid to show it, unlike most. But despite imperfection, they are living their lives fully, using their talents to accomplish great things, yet remaining fully human, genuine, and humble. They inspire you, and you are in awe that you actually get to know them.

I know someone like that, and I want you to meet her. I texted her yesterday and told her I was excited about this week, because I get to brag on her a whole lot. What’s this week, you might wonder? It’s “Awake Re-Launch Week”. The week where her book Awake, is being offered for a significant discount — meaning it’s on sale big time. The week when a whole team of bloggers are writing all about it, and you get sign up to join the online study.

Noel Yeatts is the VP of World Help, but I call her friend. Read more about Noel here. We met almost a year ago when World Help invited me to Guatemala as a blogger. If you haven’t read my stories from there, grab some Kleenex before you do. I wrote her a thank you card while I was on the plane on the way to Guatemala before we ever met, and found the short draft of it in my journal, recently. Here’s what I wrote her.

“When I stumbled onto your blog and saw your book Awake, I knew that I needed to read it. Since before the first day I began my blog, a year ago October 9th, 2012 (almost two years now), God began awakening my soul. That’s what He called it. When I received your book in the mail, my heart flooded and eyes welled, I never imagined that we would meet. I am so thankful and full of expectation for what God will do…May He take the message of the mission of World Help across the earth and call people to join the rescue.”

It’s still my prayer. Here we are a year later and I am in awe over what God has done. Mostly, I feel humbled that I get to be a part of it, and that I get to call Noel friend.

I met her on the field, walking dusty roads in Guatemala. I witnessed her kneel, giving gifts a sponsored child. I’ve watched her record videos. The kind where she passionately shares her heart about providing clean water to those who don’t have any. In the process, being sprayed by one of those well’s faucets, laughing and continuing to video tape. I still smile thinking about the little Guatemalan boy who tried to warn Noel before she turned off the water.

I’ve seen her wearing a mosquito net to sleep in. Wearing, yes, but I didn’t ask her permission to share the photo. 😉  It’s the spiders crawling on her at night she’s afraid of. Um, who wouldn’t be? I’ve run into her in the ladies room and chatted about being introverted and nervous. Noel, looking elegant, ready to make a presentation at a banquet, which she did flawlessly. We were in the States for that one.

And my point? She’s real, and full of grace and beauty. I just love that about her.

I also love how she lives what her Twitter bio says, “Just an everyday wife and mother trying to change the world.” She takes one son to his baseball tournament, counsels another about high school, and plans a trip to Asia to help rescue young girls from human trafficking and slavery. An everyday mama…
