It’s going to be a bit quiet here for a few days. I just wanted to let you know. I began taking blog breaks earlier in the year — about one week off, every six weeks. I know how important it is for me to take time to renew. It seems six weeks is just the perfect amount of time to pass before I need to take a rest, before I reach burnout. It’s my way of leaving margin. I wrote about why we all need margin, here.
Margin is the gap between rest and exhaustion, the space between breathing freely and suffocating… Margin grants freedom and permits rest. It nourishes both relationship and service. Spiritually, it allows availability for the purpose of God.

I am writing my first series, you know? It begins January 1, 2013, and I hope you will join me for it. Will you share about it, too? You can read about it here. I am still writing it. The message feels like a burning in my spirit. I believe God’s in this. I could use your prayers so that I may find the rest of the words. And part of the reason for this rest is because I know I need time to find words, and hear words from God. Life can get a bit noisy and busy and noisier and busier. I need to slow down, and get quiet to hear His words and even mine.
If I’m to be honest with you, I must tell you I haven’t sat quiet at His feet enough. It’s time to pray more, study and lean in close to listen to His Voice. I often think about the verse — man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matt 4:4) And if I’m to live, to live truly nourished, it is His word that is to be my sustenance.

A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
And I’m malnourished. I need the Bread of Life, and if His words are bread, and I have none, it’s not fair to anyone if I am only offering leftover crumbs. I’m going to find Him.
