I’m doing a series. Surprised? Well, I wasn’t sure I was going to. Then I wasn’t sure what I was going to write about. You see, I’m not the only one. There are hundreds and maybe over a thousand other bloggers joining The Nester and doing a series — a 31 Day one. Remember the one I did in January? 31 Days to Dream Again

This time it’s “Making of a Home: UNVEILED”. Please note the “ish”.

You see, my home is still in the making.

When I decided I was going to write about making of a home, I didn’t realize how inadequate I would feel when I actually looked at it. Sure, there are things I’m good at. But there are also a million things I could be doing better.  I have weaknesses, and lots of them.

I’m going to share both. I hope it doesn’t end up heavy on the weakness, failure side. What good would that be for you? Except, maybe make you feel better about your own home, like I do when I walk into someone else’s house that’s just as messy as mine.

Over the course of the next month I’m going to open wide the doors to my home, and share what it’s really like to be the maker of one, along with a few tips — emphasis on few. And some decorating — maybe.

I’m not sure how much will be Pinterest worthy, but I’m not going to worry too much about that. Pinterest isn’t real life. Pinterest is a mirage. And this is making of a home — unveiled.

Here’s the other thing. It took many wasted hours of fussing over the house, several houses actually, over the years to realize that making of home is not all about the physical home, but the people that abide in it, and the Spirit that abides.

So, consider it a more holistic “making of a home” where I’ll be sharing about all that encompasses what I come to believe it means. All the messes and all the beauty, from laundry and paint color, to cultivating a home where dreamers live, while trying not to drive each other batty first or lose my mind in the process.

I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be good for me. I hope it will be good for you, too.
