Rescue Wednesday

Little by little I am finding the words to write the stories of my experience in Guatemala.  Lord willing, each week leading up to the new year, I will be sharing one story with you — because I have answered His call to rescue.

Before I got off the plane the day I arrived in Guatemala, my prayer was, “What is that you want me to see, Lord? And once I see, what is it You want me to do?”

I went with an open heart to see and experience Operation Baby Rescue, I went trusting that it was God who brought me there, and the expectation was this; God would open my eyes to what I needed to see.

I knew that I would see poverty like I have never known, where “One in two children, under the age of 5, suffers from malnutrition in Guatemala. In rural areas, 80 percent of children suffer from chronic malnutrition. Most malnutrition is caused by water-borne illnesses.”  I knew that I would encounter suffering of the worst kind — hunger, thirst, and disease. And seeing this effected me on a level that I still have yet to understand.

But what I did not expected to see and what has brought awe and wonder to my heart even now as I write, is the pureness of the heart and ministry of the people of God doing His work there.

One of those people who is fully invested in this work is Noel Brewer Yeatts. Noel is the Vice President of World Help. She is also the author of Awake, which you will be hearing more about in the next few months. It was an honor and privilege to meet her while I was in Guatemala. I loved her instantly. I love her heart, her authenticity and her joy. She is beautiful, through and through. Her short Twitter bio says it perfectly. “Just an everyday wife and mother trying to change the world.” And she is.

Will you join me at Noel’s blog for the rest of this post by clicking here? I’d love for you to meet her, too.
