As you can see, there’ve been some changes around here to the design of the blog. I hope you find it to be a warm and welcoming place. I settled on this design because of the colors. I love the combination of the blue, red and yellow and the earthiness of the of the neutrals. And they are the same colors as I have in my own home.
I love how I can display images in the header that convey what I am most passionate about. And it’s a slideshow, too. Did you notice? I’ll be adding more slides along the way. And you can click on each slide because they are linked to posts.
I’ve cleaned up the sidebar, and now there are menu tabs. If you hover over the red tabs on the left side of the blog you will find my journal, which is really a way to find archived posts easily by searching a key word, using the monthly drop down, or choosing one of the categories. And you’ll also find an events tab.
As you are reading this post now, or when you click into a particular post, there is no side bar. I feel like it gives me breathing room. I absolutely love that I get to read a single post without any other distractions on the side (except for the red tabs.) I hope you enjoy that part as much as I do. Click here, the HOME page, to see the difference
I have my social network links on those fun little yellow flag-like, ribbon things. And I have my main navigation menu above the logo. Also, a work in progress.
I am not sure I can call that a logo yet. I’ve looking for the right artist to design me one. I need it to be inspired by someone who truly knows what it means to live a life surrendered. Do you know anybody?
I am really happy with the new tag line. It took me a while to decide on one, because there are too many words and ways to share my heart and the message of my blog.
- Micah 6:8 has been a verse that God has been working into my heart, and I, my walk. It says, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
- I’m learning what it means to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly and desire to raise children that do the same. I know that God has called me home, and also to reach out globally to the world He loves. I cannot deny my heart for the nations, and God has not asked me to. Quite the contrary, actually. I know that God has called me home, and also to reach out globally. I cannot deny my heart for the nations, and God has not asked me to. Quite the contrary, actually. And I am still learning what that means for this mama whose first call is home.
- I have a passion for the family, a most holy unit the devils seeks to destroy.
- Making of a home is deeply personal and important to me. I’ll be letting you in our spaces, always a work in progress. And I am in always in process, so also will this blog be. At home, I’ve always purposed to cultivate and environment conducive to learning, creating and living. I’d like to show you a few ways how I did. I’m not even sure why I haven’t already.
- And I love creativity. One of my favorite attributes of God is His creative nature. I’m fascinated by art and creativity and I feel God is drawing this out of me. I want a creative home. I may not ever have told you this, but even before this blog began I dreamed we would, as a family create items at home to sell and use a portion of the proceeds for missions. I believe that dream will soon be one come to life — one way for us to do justice.
I share all of that to say, none of those passions make a short enough tagline, but the one I did decide on I feel embodies them, and a life surrendered.

And the blog design is not the only thing that is changing, but I am. Or at least it’s time to. And I want to tell you about it and share what I learned last week while I was on my blog break, but that’s for another post.
So, will you come back on Wednesday for that? I will talking more about “Change.”
Thank you for journeying with me. Truly. I’d probably still blog even if you weren’t here, but you make it so much for fun! If you’d like to make sure you don’t miss anything, consider subscribing via email?
