Deuteronomy 4:29 :: To Walk and Wait in Surrender…

“If you search for Him with all your heart and soul,

you will find Him.”

Deuteronomy 4:29

“Coming apart for a couple of days so we don’t come apart.

Seeking a bit of peace so we don’t fall to pieces.

Because sometimes we have to hide to find.

Spending a handful of days to reap a heartful of Him.”

These words from Sandra Heska King convey

so beautifully why coming away is so necessary.

He doesn’t want us to take residence and camp out in the moment, for in a moment it becomes the past. No, move forward and run the race, walk or crawl sometimes, if you have to, but never stop moving forward — toward Him.

I am not sure if He leads me to it or meets me there. I am not sure if He’s asked me to do it, or if it’s my free-will offering. But these weeks of rest that I take from blogging and social media — God looks forward to, also.

He is jealous for me. I hear Him calling, again. Just when I think He’s been found, He calls me to seek. To search for Him as for hidden treasure. Maybe the finding is in the seeking. The call to go — go lower to go higher — go deeper to go free — it never ends. The call to surrender, the call to lose our life in His, so we might gain life.  Luke 17:33

Excerpts from “Clear the Stage” — Jimmy Needham

Until you’re broken for your sin.

You can’t be social.

Shine the light on every corner of your life

until the pride and lust and lies are in the open

And read the word and put to test the things you’ve heard

until your heart and soul are stirred and rocked and broken.

Anything you want with all your heart is an idol.

Take a break from all the plans

that you have made and sit at home alone

and wait for God to whisper.

I can write and blog all I want, and still get it wrong.

Here I surrender and wait for Him.

Right in the middle of a struggle, as I across from my student at a loss (you can read about it here), I received a text from a friend with a link to this video. I am not sure she knows how timely it was, what a gift of grace it was, and how God has used it to bring me to a new place of broken. Thank you, friend.
