Last weekend, my husband and I ventured to Palm Springs, CA all the way from our Central Florida home, at the invitation of World Help. We weren’t sure what to expect while there, but we knew we were supposed to go.
The weekend far surpassed our exceptions. It wasn’t California or the hotel we stayed, though beautiful. It was the people of World Help. I’ve found my people. I had the honor of sharing a part of my story at one of the meetings. What I spoke is what you find here.

I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mama of four. Though, I know the labor I do is work fit for the Kingdom, the burden to reach the nations of the world for Christ has never left me. How can I reach the world from home without compromising my first call as wife and mama?
Last summer, I wrote a post on my blog. I titled it “God’s Been Waiting for my Yes.” I ended with this prayer, “Will this “YES” take me to the nations, Lord, to provide food for the hungry, shelter for the bare, water for the thirsty and You for the lost? Because that’s what I want. Then here is my yes, Lord, I am a writer.”
A few weeks later, Tiffany from World help contacted me. She offered me an opportunity to go on a trip to Guatemala for Operation Baby Rescue as a blogger to write their stories, that would become my story, too.
I said, yes.
What World Help didn’t know is my heart had long been broken for the nations, and I’ve wanted to be part of a work that was reaching the world, yet I was the greatest of skeptics and leery of trusting. I desired a heart-and-hand connection, and I wanted the people who worked for it to have that, too.
October of that year, World Help brought me to Guatemala to see Operation Baby Rescue in action. God brought me there to see His people in action, like is His own show-and-tell, to show me God’s people doing His Kingdom work, for the right reasons and doing it well. I saw it.
And I knew I’d found what I’d been looking for.

One day in Guatemala, I sat in the small foyer of the Hope of Life clinic holding a fragile 3 week old rescued baby whose mama had died two weeks before. With no milk to nourish his body, his skin was paper thin and his tiny bones protruding. No baby’s bones should be easily counted.
While I fed him his first bottle, outside the doors of the clinic lay a baby rescued, but not soon enough. Baby Nelson, Noel told you about yesterday. He laid to rest in a small white coffin. Carlos Vargas and Noel embraced his young mother as she said good-bye, just 15 feet from where I sat.

I never saw the line between life and death so closely.
Guatemala broke me.
In March, my husband and I had the opportunity to go with World Help to visit Danita’s Children in Haiti where World Help partners with Danita who provides a home for over 100 orphans who are truly orphans no more.
We went to dedicate the hospital that Vernon Brewer committed to helping Danita finish. A dream realized stemming from a promise that one day she would build a medical center in Haiti where children could come and not need to die alone.
While there on campus of Danita’s Children, I walked into their church — lined not with padded pews — but bunk beds. So what should a church look like? This. Rows and rows of beds for children who otherwise would be abandoned, vulnerable and perhaps left to die alone.
The beds were filled with the children Danita sought out after the earthquake. And though there was no room, she would make room for more — not just one rescued — but 70 more.

And World Help has committed to helping finish the homes for those children.
Haiti has fueled me.
I remember this every Sunday I sit on my padded seat in my air conditioned church. Religion God accepts as pure is to help the orphans.
I remember standing with Jane from World Help on a dusty road in Guatemala just after we dedicated a new well, when she told me, “We, World Help, find where God is working and join Him there.”
I’ve seen this as reality.
They do just that, as an organization, not interested in building their own kingdom, but God’s, by supporting and partnering with those who are already doing a good work, advancing God’s Kingdom.
And that is something I am honored to be a part of.
We’ve been able to give, financially. I’ve been able to write and tell the stories and share via social networking, what World Help is doing with thousands who never knew.
We each have a part in fulfilling Christ’s mandate in the earth — to reach the world for Him.
What part do you have?
What have you been uniquely designed to do?
What tailor made call has God given you? Will you answer?
What greater accomplishment is there than to fulfill His holy purpose for you?
It was for freedom that Christ set us free. And not just for our freedom, but others, too.
How are you going to use your life to set another’s free?
What yes is He waiting for?
What if your yes, is the matter of life and death for another — both now and for eternity?
These questions, I ask myself everyday.
We each have something in our hands that we can offer. Sometimes it’s the smallness of it that keeps us from giving. But when we offer it, no matter the size, there is no limit to what God can do with it.
