A Life Surrendered

The start of this blog in 2011, which I named A Life Surrendered, was a response to God asking me to open up about the things I was learning as a wife and mama following God—the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. He used Matthew 5:14-16 in the Message translation to call me out. The lines that urged me on and continue to urge me on are, “Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

It is my hope, as I share openly and honestly about the things I’ve struggled with, the things I’ve overcome, and the things I still have yet to overcome, that you would come to know the nature and heart of God. You don’t have to fear losing the loving of God when the process of transformation gets long and messy. There’s nothing you can do or not do that will cause God to ever stop pursuing you. He will not stop trying to get your attention, and you always have His.

Why I write about Operation Baby Rescue…

Why I write about Operation Baby Rescue Last year, when I began praying about how we could make Christmas about giving to the least of these, for Christ, I never imagined God would take me to another nation to show me where we should give. I am thankful, and my life...

Be transparent, be generous with your life…

Be transparent? Sometimes it's hard to open up. A road in? A roadway in the wilderness, where no road should be and He's the Road-maker. And maybe, just maybe, that hard way where trails were blazed through testings by fire, weren't just for me to walk through. Just...

The righteous may have many troubles, but God is still good.

"The righteous may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers them from them all." Psalm 34:19 NIV When I heard his yells from a far, I thought baby girl had made her way in front of his car. Panicked stricken I ran, but thankfully found her safely sitting on the...

A New and Different CHRISTmas…

Every year we read the Christmas story and prayed before anyone opened a single gift. Reluctantly, I admit that was the depth of our Christmas tradition. I spent countless hours a few months before Christmas, thumbing and clicking through pages of retail, seeking the...

Gifts of Hope + The Jesus Jar [Part 2]

Gifts of Hope: There is something wonderful about giving them. Last year we decided to make our Christmas different. We sought God and asked, "How could we give? Where could we give?" One idea was to start a Jesus Jar. I wrote about it here yesterday: The Jesus Jar...

Sometimes it’s hard to say thanks + counting to 1000 Gifts…

Sometimes it's hard to say thanks, even to God. Our morning brought an unexpected mourning. Though we've been nursing our beloved horse Whiskers to health the last 3 weeks, we lost her, unexpectedly, this morning. So, with thanks today, also hard thanks... Counting...

Creative gift to give for Christmas :: The Jesus Jar [Part 1]

A creative gift to give for Christmas. I can count on one hand the number of times I grew lax and simply tossed the notorious garment in the wash without checking the pockets first. I paid the price with a gum streaked-dryer or a crayon-colored load. Most days, no...

Philippians 2:6-7 :: He gave…

He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a servant and was born as a human being. Philippians 2:6-7 NLT He gave up His divine privileges to come, and be born as a human....

Whom He loves — our Priority {Rescue Wednesday}

POST DISCLAIMER: My eldest daughter would like me to make sure you know that we are not a "perfect" family. We are not perfect in any sense of the word. If I could let you peak in and see, you'd find us in the middle of messes and spills, quarrels and chaos, at times....
