A Life Surrendered

The start of this blog in 2011, which I named A Life Surrendered, was a response to God asking me to open up about the things I was learning as a wife and mama following God—the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. He used Matthew 5:14-16 in the Message translation to call me out. The lines that urged me on and continue to urge me on are, “Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

It is my hope, as I share openly and honestly about the things I’ve struggled with, the things I’ve overcome, and the things I still have yet to overcome, that you would come to know the nature and heart of God. You don’t have to fear losing the loving of God when the process of transformation gets long and messy. There’s nothing you can do or not do that will cause God to ever stop pursuing you. He will not stop trying to get your attention, and you always have His.

Motherhood Redeemed [Part 1]

I’m graduating my eldest daughter next month. She’s my first of four — homeschoooled. Possibly because of it, I’ve found myself quite introspective and retrospective. Asking questions like, “What could I have done differently?” “Why wasn’t I wiser, more patient, engaged?” “Why didn’t I pray more?” “Why didn’t I play more?”

Where I share my story about (in)RL…

As I walked down her driveway, a little embarrassed to open the steel door to my crumb-caked, mud-crusted vehicle, I turned back to her half-hoping she didn't notice the mess in the car, and said, “I had a really great time. Why haven’t we done this before?” Neither...

A busy, yet fun week here. [blog update + GIVEAWAY]

So I went from hardly posting the last week or two, to being really busy posting this week. I am not sure how that happened. For you, who have continued to journey with me, even though I am a mess and over the place, I am grateful. This little update, I think is more...

A Few Favorite Findings #2

So, I have a few findings to share with you. Last time I said I might change the name. Well, I did. Five was too much pressure, especially for the weeks I don't get so much time on the web because I'm nursing feverish toddlers. I'm going with "a few." Here you have...

I’m still here…

I’ve been wrapped up at home, and it seems the demands on me, the demands on my time have increased. At first, I was frustrated and grouchy about it. About not having time to myself, time to write, time to create, time to read, time to connect with my friends online.

Have you ever been unhappy as a mama? Well, I’ve been there.

When you know it’s time for change…

I said Wednesday, didn’t I? Yeah, I wanted to get this post written by Wednesday and my intentions were good. But this is how it’s been going for me. It just doesn’t go the way I plan these days. Have you ever heard of the Strengths Finder Test? Well, there's a test...

So it’s time for change…

As you can see, there’ve been some changes around here to the design of the blog. I hope you find it to be a warm and welcoming place. I settled on this design because of the colors. I love the combination of the blue, red and yellow and the earthiness of the of the...

To everything there is a season…

It's time for me to go quiet, and unplug for the most part. Officially it's week off of blogging and social network, but this time it may be more. It's time to seek God about many things. And these are my deep-heart prayers and wails to Him. It's time to seek the...
